Levels Symbols Explained
Levels differ based on the percentage achieved, the varying levels represent levels of achievement which are used to determine which symbol and qualification you have attained. These results are documented in the National Senior Certificate (NCS).
A student must pass their home language with a minimum of 40%, a mark lower than 40% for the home language means the student has failed matric.
Achieving the provisional qualification entrances mentioned above does not guarantee the learner’s entrance into a tertiary institution (College or University). However, it guarantees the learner that they qualify for their respective qualification entrance and preceding qualifications. Tertiary institutions may or may not conduct further grading tests (National Benchmark Test (NBT)) for a learner to be accepted by the institution.
